Job Description
Job Overview
This is an opportunity for a communications professional ready to take the next step in their career, building broad experience across internal and external corporate communications. You don't need to have held a Manager title previously; we're looking for strong communications foundations, curiosity and the potential to grow.
In this role, you’ll put those skills into practice by developing and delivering high-quality communications activity that strengthens AbbVie UK’s reputation, supports therapy area and enterprise priorities, and helps employees and external stakeholders understand AbbVie’s contribution to patients, the health system and the economy.
The role requires a strong communications practitioner who can plan and execute across external communications, corporate channels, digital content and internal communications, working with External Affairs, commercial, medical affairs, market access, HR and agency partners to deliver integrated, insight-led communications with clear objectives, robust measurement and appropriate governance.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic planning and brand leadership
Develop communications plans for agreed therapy area, enterprise and corporate priorities, with clear objectives, audiences, messages, channels, dependencies and measures of success. Identify proactive storytelling opportunities that support AbbVie UK’s reputation and therapy area priorities, within appropriate governance and industry requirements.
Excellence in Execution
Deliver communications activity across internal and external channels, coordinating inputs from internal stakeholders, agency partners and review processes. Support issues preparedness and reactive communications by drafting materials, coordinating alignment and escalating risks early.
Tactical execution and omnichannel delivery
• Write, edit and manage high-quality content for media materials, corporate website content, social media, intranet articles, leadership communications, employee updates and campaign assets.
• Support AbbVie UK digital and social media activity, including content development, channel planning, localisation of global materials and performance reporting.
Performance, insight and innovation
Set practical KPIs and use data, channel analytics and stakeholder feedback to assess impact and recommend improvements. Maintain awareness of healthcare, pharmaceutical, policy, media and digital trends, using this insight to inform communications planning.
Stakeholder leadership and cross-functional collaboration
Provide practical communications counsel to internal stakeholders, helping teams communicate with clarity, consistency and sound judgement. Work with External Affairs, commercial, medical affairs, market access, HR, legal, compliance and other functions to support integrated communications delivery.
Governance and business delivery
Partner with agency teams and vendors to deliver agreed outputs efficiently, on brief, within budget and to AbbVie quality standards. Ensure communications activity follows AbbVie processes for review, approval, documentation, budget management and vendor oversight.
