We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Business Manager – AI to lead the development and growth of artificial intelligence and predictive intelligence solutions within our Industrial Asset Intelligence business.
Working closely with the General Manager you will connect AI, data, software, robotics, sensing and automation capabilities to solve real industrial challenges. You will guide priority initiatives from customer discovery and solution design through to pilot, validation, deployment, adoption and commercial scale.
This is a senior role for a practical technology leader who can balance innovation with safety, governance, reliability and commercial value. You will help shape our AI roadmap, build scalable customer offerings and support the transition from point-in-time inspection to continuous monitoring, predictive maintenance and predictive assurance.
Key Responsibilities but not limited to:
• Develop and maintain a commercially focused AI, data and predictive intelligence roadmap aligned with customer needs and business priorities.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams through discovery, solution architecture, development, pilot, validation, deployment and ongoing support.
• Translate operational and asset-management challenges into practical, secure and scalable AI-enabled solutions.
• Build predictive asset intelligence capabilities using inspection, sensor, operational, engineering and historical data.
• Establish clear stage gates and provide evidence-based recommendations on whether initiatives should stop, pivot, proceed or scale.
• Partner with business and commercial leaders to turn proven capabilities into repeatable offerings, paid pilots, proposals and sustainable revenue opportunities.
• Support AI use cases and business cases for the Network Operations Centre, Sovereign Data Centre and broader Digital Trust Chain.
• Set fit-for-purpose standards for AI governance, model validation, monitoring, cybersecurity, data use, human oversight and lifecycle management.
• Build collaboration across AI, data, software, robotics, sensing, engineering, operational technology and commercial teams.
• Identify capability gaps and recommend recruitment, development, partnership, technology investment or acquisition strategies.
Qualifications
About You
You are a strategic and hands-on leader who understands both the potential and the practical realities of deploying AI in complex industrial environments. You can communicate with executives, customers, engineers, technical specialists and field teams, turning complex concepts into clear operational and commercial decisions.
To be successful, you will bring:
• Senior leadership experience across AI, machine learning, predictive analytics, data, software, automation or related digital technologies.
• A strong record of taking complex technology solutions from concept into production, adoption and measurable business or customer outcomes.
• Experience in asset-intensive sectors such as industrial services, infrastructure, energy, water, utilities or resources.
• Commercialisation experience covering customer discovery, business cases, pilots, pricing, service design and scalable offerings.
• Strong technical judgement across AI/ML, data engineering, software architecture, systems integration, automation and model lifecycle management.
• Knowledge of contemporary AI applications, including predictive modelling, anomaly detection, computer vision, deep learning, generative AI, large language models, retrieval-augmented generation and AI agents.
• An understanding of cloud, edge and on-premises architectures, including data sovereignty, cybersecurity, connectivity, scalability and whole-of-life cost.
• A current driver’s licence and the willingness and ability to travel regularly.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications are highly desirable, although substantial experience in industrial technology, AI, data or automation may be considered.
