The Technical Business Requirements Analyst serves as the business-facing liaison between manufacturing operations and Information Technology. This role translates manufacturing needs into clear, actionable, and testable requirements for the digital tools that support production, inventory, supply chain, quality, engineering, configuration management, and shipping.

The analyst also helps teams explore solutions early through wireframing, lightweight user-experience design, and AI-assisted prototyping. By making workflows and concepts visible before development, the role helps manufacturing users, IT, and engineering align on the right problem, the right interaction model, and the right technical path.

Core Responsibilities

Requirements analysis and business liaison

• Partner with manufacturing, engineering, quality, supply chain, inventory, and operations stakeholders to understand business needs and operational challenges.

• Elicit, document, analyze, prioritize, and validate business, functional, technical, data, reporting, and integration requirements.

• Translate operational needs into user stories, use cases, workflow diagrams, functional requirements, nonfunctional requirements, and acceptance criteria.

• Document current-state and future-state processes and maintain traceability from the original business need through design, development, testing, release, and implementation.

• Represent manufacturing priorities during project planning, backlog refinement, solution design, implementation, and release planning.

Wireframing and user experience definition

• Create low- and medium-fidelity wireframes, screen flows, navigation concepts, and workflow prototypes for manufacturing tools.

• Use wireframes to clarify roles, data entry, scan flows, approvals, exceptions, alerts, dashboards, and handoffs before development begins.

• Collaborate with operators, supervisors, engineers, quality personnel, and IT to validate usability, terminology, information hierarchy, and shop-floor practicality.

• Document interaction requirements, field behavior, validation rules, permissions, accessibility considerations, and responsive or device-specific needs.

• Use prototypes to expose ambiguity, reduce rework, and support structured design reviews and stakeholder decisions.

AI-assisted prototyping and responsible experimentation

• Use approved AI tools to rapidly generate, refine, and compare prototype concepts, sample workflows, interface copy, test scenarios, and synthetic examples.

• Turn business requirements into AI-assisted clickable or interactive prototypes that help stakeholders experience proposed solutions before implementation.

• Evaluate AI-generated concepts for accuracy, usability, security, privacy, export-control implications, bias, traceability, and alignment with approved requirements.

• Ensure that AI-generated outputs are treated as drafts requiring human review and are not used with controlled, sensitive, proprietary, or regulated data unless explicitly authorized.

• Partner with IT, cybersecurity, data governance, and business owners to establish practical guardrails for AI-supported analysis and prototyping.

Manufacturing systems and process improvement

• Build working knowledge of planning and scheduling, MRP, inventory, kitting, receiving, production execution, quality, configuration management, shipping, reporting, ERP, MES, QMS, PLM, and WMS tools.

• Lead or support process mapping, workflow analysis, root-cause analysis, and continuous-improvement activities.

• Evaluate solutions for usability, scalability, maintainability, security, data integrity, operational risk, and cross-functional impact.

• Define business rules, roles, permissions, approvals, alerts, validations, and exception-handling requirements.

Testing and implementation

• Develop test scenarios, test cases, test data, ac
