The Management Consulting Team at Teneo
Our Management Consulting division focuses on answering key strategic questions for business leaders through our mix of senior experience and rigorous analysis, combined with the unique expertise that exists across Teneo. We operate across a diverse array of sectors including Consumer Goods, Healthcare, Leisure & Hospitality, Software, Transport, and TMT, amongst others. Within these markets, we provide strategic, operational, and due diligence support, advising reputable Fortune 500 and FTSE 100 firms, key public-sector organizations, and leading private equity houses.

As an Associate Director, you are a client-facing leader who partners with senior leadership to define and execute client strategy. This role requires an independent strategy consultant who can challenge assumptions, structure complex problems, and turn strategy into action across areas such as growth strategy, technology-enabled strategy, operating model design, merger integration, and implementation planning.

Key Responsibilities:

• Drive and develop business and growth strategy, helping clients define ambitions, assess economics, and translate their vision into actionable priorities

• Structure and independently drive fast-paced client engagements, including workplans, analyses, deliverables, and coordination across account teams, clients, and relevant partners

• Interact directly with senior clients as a trusted point person, shaping and executing strategic initiatives with limited day-to-day oversight

• Connect business capabilities, product and technology to enterprise strategy and value creation, including capability planning, AI and platform considerations, and investment prioritization

• Develop strategic roadmaps that implement the capabilities, operating model, organization, and investments required to achieve a client’s business vision

• Lead operating model, organization design, and merger integration work where technology and product capabilities are important drivers of business value

• Set the strategic direction and workload for engagement teams, leading teams through multiple levels of management, and creating leverage for senior leaders while maintaining high-quality client service

• Collaborate across Teneo’s internal divisions and client stakeholders to craft integrated, practical solutions and help move recommendations from strategy into execution

• Bring intellectual rigor and constructive challenge to senior leaders and clients; test assumptions, identify implications, and develop clear points of view

• Serve as a role model and mentor to colleagues, creating clarity and momentum in ambiguous situations

• Establish priorities, drive analysis, and maintain accountability for deadlines and outcomes with a self-starter mentality

Qualifications:

• 8–12 years of relevant experience, with a strong foundation in management consulting, first-principles thinking and issues-based problem solving

• Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred

• Demonstrated experience at the intersection of business strategy and technology, including areas such as technology-enabled growth, product and capability strategy, strategic roadmapping, operating model, organization design, or investment planning

• Broad industry experience is valued; particularly relevant exposure includes insurance, payments, fintech/financial services, technology, and technology services; deep specialization in a single sector not required

• Experience leading teams and managing workstreams, with the ability to work independently, create intellectual leverage for senior leadership, and drive work forward without frequent direction

• Approaches complex issues with intellectual rigor, critical thinking, sound judgment, and a willingness to challenge assumptions

• Powerfully persuasive communicator who can engage senior clients comfortably and professionally, while also getting into the details to drive analysis and execution
