Job description
About Betterment
Betterment is a leading, technology-driven financial services company that offers investing, savings and retirement solutions for retail investors and investment advisors as well as financial wellness solutions, including a 401(k) for small and medium-sized businesses. Our team is passionate about our mission, to empower people to build wealth with confidence and ease. We’re headquartered in NYC and offer hybrid NY-based positions (four days/ week in-office, with no required office days during the summer and winter holidays).
About the Role
The Website Operations team at Betterment is responsible for building and maintaining our public-facing marketing website. The team plays a critical role in ensuring content accuracy, compliance readiness, accessibility, SEO hygiene, high-quality publishing standards, and CRO testing and optimization across all lines of business.
As Sr. Manager, Website Operations, you will serve as the platform owner for our website, inclusive of the systems, governance, and experiences that span our multiple lines of business, resource center, and more. Building on our current intake process, you’ll create a scalable operating model that guides smart decisions about where to focus and how to sequence work for the greatest business impact. You’ll partner closely with Creative, Marketing, Engineering, Growth, Analytics, and Compliance to ensure those decisions reflect platform standards and team capacity while keeping the site reliable, on-brand, and aligned with business priorities. Reporting to the Director of Brand Operations, you’ll manage our Website Operations Associate and help shape the team as it grows.
This role is based out of our NYC office. Below we've reflected the base salary range for this position. Actual salaries may vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Betterment’s total compensation package for employees.
• New York City: $141,500 - $162,500
This job may also be eligible for variable compensation in the form of a company incentive bonus.
A Day in the Life:
• Establish governance for site navigation, templates, modules, and publishing standards
• Lead development of landing pages and site experiences tied to marketing campaigns and media buys
• Partner with Product and Engineering on product integrations and interactive experiences (e.g., calculators, tools), guiding one-off or technical-debt-prone requests toward stable, reusable components
• Collaborate with Creative Operations on capacity planning to ensure web timelines align with corresponding marketing and campaign work
• Execute and implement website A/B tests and experiments, from build through QA and rollout, in collaboration with Analytics, Product Marketing, and Product
• Improve technical SEO and content discoverability, including visibility in LLM-driven and AI-assisted search (AEO)
• Provide mentorship, coaching, and clear prioritization support to junior website operations team members
What We’re Looking For:
This role is for someone who combines attention to detail and strong operational thinking with a focus on outcomes, and is excited to build the systems and processes that help a growing marketing website perform better, scale effectively, and drive business growth.
• 7+ years of experience in web operations, digital platform management, or a related field, with prior experience managing people
• Hands-on CMS experience (HubSpot experience preferred), with strong fundamentals in content modeling and design systems; familiarity with HTML/CSS/JS is a plus
• Demonstrated experience partnering with product and engineering teams on scoped technical work, integrations, or platform decisions
• Familiarity with CRO (conversion rate optimization) principles and experience executing website experiments (e.g., A/B tests)
• Familiarity with technical SEO and emerging AEO (answer engine optimization) best practices
• Comfortable establishing and evolving intake, governance, and prioritization processes, with the ability to balance competing priorities and communicate tradeoffs clearly
• Experience in financial services or another regulated industry is a plus, given the compliance and disclosure requirements that shape our marketing website
