Job Description
Play a key role in delivering a diverse range of exciting infrastructure projects across roads, commercial and industrial developments, sports, resources, water infrastructure, defence and renewable energy.
You’ll be responsible for developing high-quality civil design models, drawings and technical documentation across projects ranging from local roads and parklands to mine sites, dams, substations, BESS facilities, solar farms and wind farms.
What you'll be doing

• Develop detailed civil design models using 12d Model, including earthworks, roadworks, surface grading, DDA pedestrian access, pavements, drainage networks, culverts and open channels.

• Deliver designs across water and sewer infrastructure, including pipelines, water and sewer reticulation and pump stations, as well as stormwater and bio-retention systems.

• Produce high-quality drawings and documentation using AutoCAD, aligned with client requirements, industry standards and relevant government and regulatory requirements.

• Undertake geometry assessments and swept-path analysis to ensure designs are practical, safe and fit for purpose.

• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary project teams, coordinating civil interfaces with architectural, structural, landscape, hydraulic, geotechnical, mechanical, electrical, communications, process and environmental disciplines.

• Contribute to design and model reviews, clash detection and safety-in-design activities, ensuring quality is embedded throughout the design process.

• Prepare and review technical inputs for Bills of Quantities, balancing safety, constructability, operational requirements and cost efficiency.

• Work directly with regional project teams to understand requirements, resolve technical queries and deliver work packages to agreed scope, programme and budget.

• Support quality assurance by checking your own work and, where appropriate, reviewing the work of less experienced team members in line with AECOM's quality procedures.

• Contribute to the ongoing improvement of our civil design capability through standard details, design libraries, digital workflows, lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications
What you'll bring
We’re looking for someone with a background in civil design and drafting who is keen to contribute to diverse, multidisciplinary projects. You don’t need to tick every box, if you have the right experience and attitude, we’d love to hear from you.

• Civil Engineering qualification (Associate Degree, Diploma, Advanced Diploma or Degree).

• 2+ years’ civil design and drafting experience, ideally across urban, rural, commercial, residential, industrial or mining projects.

• Strong experience in road geometry, pavements, earthworks, grading and drainage design.

• Advanced AutoCAD skills, with experience in 12d Model and vehicle tracking.

• Experience developing civil drawings, models and quantity take-offs.

• Strong communication and collaboration skills, including working with multidisciplinary and international teams.

• Experience with water and sewer infrastructure, including reticulation, pump stations, rising mains, pipelines and reservoirs, is highly regarded.

• Familiarity with relevant Australian standards and guidelines, including Austroads, QUDM, WSAA and IPWEA, is desirable.

• Experience taking designs from concept through to construction documentation, as well as working within multidisciplinary model review environments.

• Experience mentoring junior or cadet drafters and contributing to design capability development is advantageous.
You must be an Australian citizen and be eligible to obtain an Australian Government Baseline security clearance.
