Job description

About CookUnity:

Food has lost its soul to modern convenience. And with it, it has lost the power to nourish, inspire, and connect us. So in 2018, CookUnity was founded as the first-of-its-kind platform that connects the world with the source of truly great food: chefs. Today, CookUnity delivers 50 million meals a year from the industry’s best chefs to homes all over the country. Fresh. Ready-to-eat. And crafted with the passion that nourishes body and soul.

Unwilling to stop there, CookUnity is expanding beyond delivery to become an ever-innovating marketplace focused on our singular mission: empower Chefs to nourish the world.

If that mission has you hungry in more ways than one, you’ve found the right job posting.

About the Team:

We are a small, hardworking, dynamic, and purpose-driven team focused on improving the way CookUnity creates and produces food. Our work centers on reducing environmental impact through real, operational initiatives: lowering food waste across all markets, strengthening responsible sourcing, elevating ingredient quality and nutrient value in our meals, and advancing lower-impact packaging solutions.

We partner closely with Culinary Ops, Chef Success, Supply chain to turn these commitments into daily practice, building cleaner standards, improving processes, and scaling innovations that make our meals better for people and for the planet.

The role:

We are looking for a recent Food Engineering graduate (or equivalent degree in Food Science or Technology) to join our team. The ideal candidate is organized, respectful, collaborative, analytical, and critical-thinking, with the potential to take leadership in research-oriented projects. They should be eager to learn, capable of structured analysis, and able to translate research findings into practical applications within our operations.

This role does not require prior field experience but demands a methodical and team-oriented mindset, curiosity for continuous improvement, and the ability to contribute ideas while following structured workflows.

Responsibilities:

• Actively work on the Food Science Lab Project (Ingredients Integrity + Nutrients Optimization) by researching, studying and analyzing every step of CookUnity’s food production process, from ingredients till meals are consumed by customers.

• Understand and evaluate how meals are produced, identifying opportunities to improve nutritional value and overall ingredient performance.

• Participate in the Ingredients Integrity program by evaluating ingredient quality, formulations, storage practices, and kitchen usage, while collecting and organizing data to strengthen standards, improve sourcing decisions, and support nutrient-forward upgrades.

• Gain in-depth knowledge of food additives, their functions in the industry, and their regulatory restrictions in different applications.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Chefs, Sourcing, Cullinary Ops and Nutrition) to ensure ingredient quality, safety, and consistency.

• Maintain clear, organized documentation and reports to support research and innovation projects.

• Contribute to the development of clean, high-standard recipes aligned with CookUnity’s mission to deliver better, healthier meals.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Food Engineering, Food Science, or a related field.

• Fluent English (written and spoken).

• Strong organizational, analytical, and critical-thinking skills. Strong data collection, communication, and problem-solving skills required

• Have the ability to work in a fast-paced startup environment - skilled at planning, organizing, prioritizing, and executing multiple projects and activities simultaneously.

• Experience and a high level of expertise in data entry, a food production enterprise resource or recipe management software, food labeling and compliance programs, GSuite, and Slack.

• Team player with a proactive, respectful, and detail-oriented attitude.

• Interest in food innovation, ingredient quality, and applied research.

• Optimistic, resourceful, and ready to take on any challenges
